I started my interpreting career in 2016 as an educational interpreter through Arizona State School for the Deaf and Blind. I worked 1-on-1 with an assigned student every day in public schools where there was typically only 1 or 2 Deaf students at each school. I had the privilege of working with a variety of students of various backgrounds and accessibility needs in all ages K-12. During this time, I was volunteering services to make free community events more accessible such as Tucson Pride and various drag shows and theatrical productions around the city. After obtaining certification and my AZ state license to work outside of the education realm, I began to dip my toes in the water and found I loved working in a variety of other settings. After 8 years as a K-12 educational interpreter, I decided to become a full-time community freelance interpreter. My favorite settings to interpret in are social and government services, community events (especially LGBTQIA+ and Latine events), performance, and education (both K-12 and postsecondary).
